Description

OPI Gelcolor soak off gel polish (released on October of 2011) applies just like traditional nail polish, but gives your like a super shiny finish that lasts up to two weeks. You can just simply apply the gel like regular nail polish and cure it under a UV or LED lamp for the specified period of time.

Why choose OPI Gelcolor?

OPI Gelcolor is produced by the largest manufactur of nail products in the world. OPI's Gelcolor will last for 2 weeks and is made specifically to fight the normal wear and tear from daily activities. Their formula does not damage the natural nails and will help keep your nails strong and healthy.

How long does it take for OPI Gelcolor to cure?

The curing times for Gelcolor gel polish is highly dependent on the type of lamp that you are using. For LED Lamps, Gelcolor will take 20-30 seconds to cure. However, with a UV Lamp, it will take 2 - 3 minutes to cure. Check out the latest LED lamp for faster curing!

How do I use OPI Gelcolor polish?

The Gelcolor application process is very similar to the other soak off gel polishes... This is how you do it:

Preparation

Step 1. Prepare the nail by using an orangewood stick to push the cuticles back for a clean application of gel

Step 2. Shape your nails to your style with a natural nail filer (150 grit or higher)

Step 3. Prepare the natural nail by gently removing the shine using a buffer... lightly buff it to rough up the nail beds

Step 4. Remove the oils and dust on your nail by using nail cleanser

OPI Gelcolor Application

Step 5. (Roll the gelcolor bottle in your hands to mix the contents) Apply a thin even layer of Gelcolor Base Coat onto your nail.

Step 6. Place your hand in an LED Lamp and cure for 10 seconds or UV Lamp and cure for 1 minute. The top coat will remain tacky/sticky, but this is normal of any soak off gel polish.

Step 7. (Roll the Gelcolor bottle in your hands to mix the contents) Apply a thin even layer of Gelcolor Color coat to your nail. Don't forget to cap the nail edges to create a seal. Make sure you remove any Gelcolor from the skin prior to curing.

Step 8. Place your hand in an LED Lamp and cure for 20 seconds or UV Lamp and cure for 2 minute.

Step 9. Apply a second coat of Gelcolor color to the nail.

Step 10. Place your hand in an LED Lamp and cure for 20 seconds or UV Lamp and cure for 2 minute.

Step 11. Apply a thin even layer of Gelcolor Top Coat onto your nail. The top coat creates a high shine while protecting the gel layers below it from damage. Don't froget to cap the nail edges to create a seal.

Step 12. Place your hand in an LED Lamp and cure for 20 seconds or UV Lamp and cure for 2 minute.

Step 13. Use a liberal amount of alcohol (99%) or gel cleanser with a lint free pad to remove the tacky/sticky residue from your nail.

This is a pretty coral that isn't too bright and in-your-face.

This is a pretty coral that isn't too bright and in-your-face. It's more of a subtle, dusted color that is neutral. The formulation is a tad bit on the watery side but I've encountered much runnier formulas. Overall a very average polish that did not wow me but was just all right. It didn't quite stand out to me and was a forgettable color in my collection.

I can't fathom why my friend recommended this Barbie-like coral shade (and Chocolate Moose) for my fairly conservative job. Then again, I'm partial to bright, somewhat shocking, colorful non-red based colors (mint greens, royal and tiffany blues, purples, black, orange reds) or highly conservative non-red colors (grey, brown, and for work, pearly Sally Hansen pink). Maybe I've seen too many Desperate Housewife types or plastic nailed older women in candy reds and wish that OPI had more adventurous colors (why I have an ill-fated infatuation with Essie.) I preferred Chocolate Moose and want to find an OPI color similar to Essie Master Plan. Whether or not I like the color, this OPI coral shade is a fluid formula that goes on easily and rather well pigmented over the whole nail, but requires two coats to be opaque. It is a decent quality and a shiny color, good for a nail polish novice like me.

APPLICATION: As a nail polish novice maybe I'm using too low a bar, but I can say this: it applies a hell of a lot better than my Essies and even Chanels (looking at you, Emprise!). The OPI flat brush helps. So did (surprisingly) the thin formula--I needed 2-3 thin coats (depending on finger), but didn't mind because the thin coats dried much more quickly that expected. By the time I was done with one hand, the other was ready for another coat.COLOR: totally gorgeous. Chic not fluorescent--a true coral (which I think of as equal parts red, pink, and orange). Those golden sparkles are so sheer and amazing that I didn't even notice them until I stepped outside afterward. As a reviewer below mentioned, this is incredibly on-trend for something from 2011. I wore it with this season's J.Crew Colorblock Shift in the coral/melon colorway and realized the shades are a dead match. WEAR: Excellent. Maybe it's just the thin coats talking, but I'm on Day 3 (after heavy typing, showering, and dishes) and I barely have tip wear. (FYI, used Revlon Colorstay base + SH Dries Instantly top.) Will update if this changes--but right now I expect this to be the kind of polish that goes 8 days easily if it gets a touchup+topcoat in the middle. And I'm a perfectionist, so by "goes" I mean "good enough that you could shake Anna Wintour's hand without flinching." (Oh, and--I oil my nails/cuticles before I base coat; if instead you strip your nail oils with alcohol/polish remover I bet it will last even longer.)

Love it! There are so many bright/neon corals out there that it's nice to find a more subtle one every now and then. It's a salmon-y, apricot coral with almost-hidden shimmer (it does show up in brighter lighting). It's fun enough for a day at the beach, but toned down enough that it won't blind anybody (sometimes you want some shock & awe, sometimes you don't).I gave it 4 stars because the application was a little tricky. It took 3 coats for full coverage, and it was a little streaky and didn't want to self-level. Thinner helped the streaking and leveling problems, but I still needed 3 coats.

I got this shade in the Spider Man mini set, and I loved it.

I got this shade in the Spider Man mini set, and I loved it. Its an amazing blue shade that looks awesome when the light hits it. I recommend people grab it before it gets discontinued.
