Why you should try nail slugging

on

Is it time to take a rest between manicures? If you're an avid gel extension wearer or someone who always gets a fresh manicure every week, listen up! If you're not letting your nails breathe between manicures, they are more likely to become weak and brittle. That's where "nail slugging" comes in. Now, before you write it off, hear us out first. Trust us, your nails will thank you.

What is nail slugging?

Nail slugging is another take on "skincare slugging" another trend that recently went viral on social media. Skincare slugging originated in K Beauty and is currently taking over Tik Tok. With "skincare slugging," the idea is to use a heavy amount o cream-based moisturizer or petroleum jelly to lock in hydration and combat dry skin. Nail slugging is essentially the same idea. It involves locking in the moisture around your cuticles, nails and hands.

How to nail slug

As far as how to do it, there isn't a wrong way. It's up to you what products you want to use and how often you want to do it. As long as you ARE doing it, that's what matters. OPI recently released their hand slugging routine. Their routine includes applying an exfoliating serum, then cuticle oil, then cuticle cream. As long as you're using products that lock in moisture, you can create your own nail slugging routine that's best for you!

Step 1: Exfoliate

The first step is to exfoliate. CND Pro Skincare is a professional range of skincare-inspired spa products, co-developed with skincare experts and nail professionals. The products are formulated with natural Prebiotoc Complex, which helps to strengthen the skin's natural defenses. These formulas also contain a blend of natural origin ingredients, such as hydrating Avocado Oil, revitalizing Vitamin E, and nourishing Shea butter.

The next step is to moisturize your cuticles. Use a cuticle oil like the one pictured above from Londontown. This product is a lightweight florium-infused formula that intensely hydrates for softer, healthier-looking cuticles -- in just a few drops! The new formulation includes three additional plant oils for deeper moisturization.
