Ever wonder why people wear green on St. Patrick's Day? Obviously, we know that we get pinched if we don't, but what's the story behind this tradition? And why the color green?
According to Elite Daily, the history of wearing green is directly connected to the series of revolutions that took place in Ireland in opposition to the English crown, starting in the 1600's.
The importance of the color green was one directly related to Irish nationality and desires for independence. But green wasn't always the native symbolic color of Ireland.

But do you want to know the real reason why Irish-American people wore green for St. Patrick's Day? It had nothing to do with politics or religion, and everything to do with hiding from leprechauns, according to Elite Daily.
The Christian Science Monitor reports that in the early 1700's, Irish-Americans supposedly bought into folklore that wearing green made them invisible to leprechauns. Legend has it that if you didn't wear green, you'd be pinched by a fairy or leprechaun. So, as part of St. Patrick's Day tradition, people would pinch anyone not wearing green, as a reminder of the leprechauns lurking around.
So, to get in the St. Patrick's Day spirit, why not take this tradition to your nails? Green might not typically be a color people gravitate towards when they choose a nail color, but these 8 shades of green will look good on any occasion!
