After making it through the year 2020, we all need some good luck during 2021! What better way than to rock some lucky colors...red and gold. Yes, Red and Gold! It isn’t Pantone’s color of the year, but there is a great reason why Red and Gold colors should be in your mani. Red is a color that represents luck and happiness. Gold is a color of richness and nobility in the Asian culture. We want you to have some luck and richness in your life, so we curated a Lunar New Year Collection.
The Lunar New Year
We love learning about other cultures, and we thought it would be great to start with this one.
The Lunar New Year is almost here (February 12). For this year, it is on February 12 because that is when the first new moon begins! The Lunar New Year is celebrated a bit differently than the American new year. In America, we celebrate the New Year in one day. Lunar New Year lasts for 15 days! That is when the full moon ends. Who celebrates Lunar New Year? Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and other Asian countries! It is also known as Spring Festival.
Each year on the lunar calendar represents one of the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac.
Here are the list of the 12 animals

How to celebrate Lunar New Year
Lunar New Year is typically celebrated with family gatherings. There's always a feast involved. Outside the home, there would be a festival with a lion dance and fireworks. If you do not hear any fireworks, then the Lunar New Year is not celebrated correctly. Children receive red envelopes that contain some money inside from family members!
Superstitions
Before the Lunar New Year, the rule is you are not allowed to clean your house. If you do, then you are sweeping your luck and fortune away! We do not need this for 2021! Our new curated collection celebrates Lunar New Year by bringing in rich reds and golds that work with any outfit. Whether you celebrate the holiday or not, these colors work for any occasion or even everyday wear.
Red and Gold is such a bold color and we totally get it! Traditionally, we may think it is just a color for Christmas and Valentine’s Day, but as we've said, these colors work well for any occasion or for a simple everyday look. If you're looking for something traditional, red's your color. If you're looking for something that pops a little more, opt for a sparkly gold. Check out some of our favorite nail inspo!
